Legislative Session
We have added an additional speaker to today's panel on Workforce & The Current Legislative Session. Jeremy Rogers , Vice President of the Oregon Business Council will join Andrew McGough, Executive Director of Worksystems, Inc. and Paloma Sparks, Senior Director of Communications and Policy Strategy at Oregon Business & Industry for an exciting panel to discuss employment and workforce issues that are that are being legislated in this current session. Jeremy Rogers, Vice President, Oregon Business Council
Jeremy Rogers is an attorney and public policy professional with fifteen years of experience working with leaders in the manufacturing, technology, health care, and energy sectors to identify and solve public policy challenges affecting business and economic growth. His current focus is on state fiscal policy including tax and pension reform. Jeremy has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Puget Sound and a Law Degree from Lewis and Clark Law School.
Our March Membership Meeting will be hosted by the EMEA Legislative Committee who will provide an update on the current legislative session. We will be bringing in experts to share with you how this current legislative session is impacting workforce development, human resources, and other employer related matters. We are excited to have Andrew McGough, Executive Director of Worksystems, Inc. and Paloma Sparks, Senior Director of Communications and Policy Strategy at Oregon Business & Industry to help break down the landscape of this current legislative session from a workforce and employer perspective. Our Featured Speakers
Andrew has been the Executive Director of Worksystems since 2006. He brings nearly 20 years of workforce development experience to the organization and has been engaged with workforce and human service programs and policy at the national, state and local levels. He is a recognized expert in workforce program development and performance management and is a frequent speaker at national, state and regional events. He is active on several local and state Boards and is the current co-Chair of the Policy & Advocacy Committee of the US Conference of Mayors Workforce Development Council. Andrew has an MPA with a dual concentration in Economics and Public Policy from Roosevelt University. He lives in Portland with his wife Margaret, son Alejandro and dog Moe. Andrew enjoys playing drums with his band Western Yew.
Paloma brings more than 15 years of experience working with the Oregon Legislature, most recently as the director of government affairs and general counsel for Oregon Resource Association. Previously, she was the legislative director for the Bureau of Labor and Industries. She is an attorney with a wide breadth of knowledge and background in employment and labor issues. She also has extensive experience in the areas of land use and transportation. Paloma attended the University of Oregon, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Juris Doctor. Paloma is a native Oregonian. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and exploring all that Oregon has to offer.
